Department Summary | The Department of Physics at the University of North Texas offers both undergraduate and graduate programs and is committed to carrying out state-of-the-art research across a number of areas of physics such as materials physics, photonics, computational physics, high energy physics, atomic and nuclear physics, plasma physics, theoretical and quantum physics, and astrophysics. With approximately 20 research active faculty members, over 70 graduate students are mentored in research. More details about the department can be found at www.physics.unt.edu . Position Summary | The Physics Department at the University of North Texas seeks a postdoctoral researcher in condensed matter and materials physics computation and theory. The research activity for this position will focus on the design of driven far-from-equilibrium materials systems; and low-temperature, novel, and quantum computing. The postdoctoral researcher will primarily plan and execute theoretical and computational studies and contribute to the writing of proposals and papers. Additionally, they will contribute to the training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students. |
Minimum Qualifications | PhD in Physics or a related field; research experience in the focus areas of the position; strong verbal and written communication skills. |
Preferred Qualifications | Ab-initio and density functional computational techniques; materials physics background; experience with the application of group theory and symmetry to extended systems; high-performance computing experience; history of successful experimental collaboration. |
